Eighteen players took part in the session in Accra under the Israeli who knows one point in Mauritius would be enough to secure Ghana an eigth straight appearance at the Nations Cup.
Atletico Madrid midfielder Thomas Partey and goalkeeper Razak Braimah were two of the players missing but most of the key layers were on hand. Grant also has the chance to observe new boys Patrick Twumasi who is based in Khazastan and AshantiGold’s Mohammed Kadri and explained the rational behind calling up the two
“First we have injuries upfront to Gyan and Warris but Twumasi is doing very well. He scored a lot of goals in Khazastan and the champions league and I hope he takes his chance. I saw Khadri in Japan and he played very well. The door is open for everybody if they do well. We want to keep the squad with a good base generally,” he said.
Grant also claims it has generally been a good season for Ghanaian players abroad. “I know ghanaian players have played well at their club level. They would be better and better and increasingly in the bigger leagues. The most important thing is that if they come to the black stars, they would give off their best.”
