Other members of the delegation include Vasily Volshin, Chief Justice of the Moscow Regional Court, Vasily Tarasov, Chief Justice of the Saratov Regional Court and Dmitry Makarov, an interpreter.
A statement issued by Justice Alex Poku-Acheampong, the Judicial Secretary, on Friday, September 13, 2013 said the visit will provide the opportunity for the two Judiciaries to discuss issues of mutual interest.
“While in Ghana, the Russian Chief Justice will address the Annual Bar Conference of the Ghana Bar Association at Ho on Monday, September 16, 2013,” the statement noted.
Mr Lebedev has been head of the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation since 1989. Previous positions he held within the Russian Judiciary include People’s Judge of District People’s Court of Moscow (1970-1977), Chairman of the District People’s Court of Moscow (1977-1984), Deputy Chairman of the Moscow City Court (1984-1986) and Chairman of the Moscow City Court (1986-1989).
He is expected to meet President John Dramani Mahama and the Speaker of Parliament, Edward Doe Adjaho as part of his four-day visit.
